Our History

Formally known as the Warwick International Development Summit - a three-day summit during which speakers involved in various global causes shared their insight and engaged with attendees.

Our summit provided a platform for global citziens to hear from and interact with high-profile speakers including Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute, and Patrick Low, Chief Economist of the World Trade Organisation.

Alongside the discussion series, WIDS has created career programmes for our members. These include our International Development Exhibition careers fair and our International Internship Scheme. We have provided our members with an exclusive internship with UNICEF in Morocco; and a short term rural Volunteer programme in Madagascar.

Today, WIDS runs a speaker and roundtable series each term, inviting professors, academics and students alike to participate in development-focused events.
